Volunteering & Working Visits
Our Centre
Kadampa Meditation Centre Liverpool is a registered charity dedicated to the public benefit of all the people of Liverpool and Merseyside and run entirely by our team of friendly volunteers of all ages both Buddhist & non Buddhist. The centre runs meditation classes, events & retreats and also has an onsite vegetarian cafe. The centre is set just 10 minutes from Liverpool City Centre and is set in the beautiful surrounding of Sefton Park.
Volunteering is an ideal opportunity to enjoy a rewarding break where you can quickly feel part of our thriving community. The work on offer is varied and provides a perfect opportunity to experience the Buddhist way of life first hand.
Volunteering Visit
The work is varied and could include helping out in our café, cooking, gardening, office work, decorating etc. Although the work is not always strenuous you will need to be reasonably fit and active to come on a volunteering visit.
We offer accommodation and food in return for 30 hours work per week, including weekends. You will have 2 days off in the week to yourself, where you can enjoy the city & surrounding areas. Liverpool is a very exciting, vibrant & cultured city with a cosmopolitan atmosphere, optimistic outlook, and friendly people. We are a warm & friendly community and have always enjoyed making friends with our working visitors.
As a volunteer visitor you are welcome to take part in the spiritual activities at our Centre. In the evenings you can attend General Programme classes on Buddhist thought and meditation or you can attend daily prayers in our meditation room.
A volunteer visit can be arranged for short term or long term periods but we request this to be at least one month and reserve the right to ask a volunteer to leave if problems arise. Volunteering visits must be booked in advance.
– We can accommodate a couple or 2 people of the same sex in a shared room.
– Please note, since KMC Liverpool is a Buddhist Centre, visitors are asked not to drink alcohol or smoke on the premises. We also ask the visitors not to play musical instruments or sound systems on the property.
If you have any problems with the form or do not get a response, please email volunteering@meditateinliverpool.org
