Who We Are

Kadampa Meditation Centre Liverpool is a UK Registered Charity (RCN: 103709). Kadampa Meditation Centre Liverpool is committed to protecting the privacy and security of individuals who visit meditationinliverpool.org.uk (the “Site”).

Purpose of this Policy

The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you as to what information may be collected from you when visiting the Site, how such information will be used, your choices regarding the collection, use and distribution of such information, your ability to edit, update, correct or delete such information and the security procedures that we have implemented to protect your privacy. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

We will update this policy at least annually and changes will be published on this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 30 June 2018.

How do we collect information from you?

Information is obtained when you use our website, for example when you use any of our online forms (such as ‘Contact Us’), when booking onto one of our courses, or when signing up to our Newsletter. Information may also be collected when not using these features, as described below.

What information do we collect from you?

Information you give us

This includes information you provide:

  • When you fill in any forms on our Site. We use a third party plugin, WP Forms, please see their privacy policy. WP Forms Privacy Policy
  • When completing the booking process for one of our courses. We use a third party plugin, The Events Calendar, please see their privacy policy. The Events Calendar Privacy Policy.
  • When signing up to our newsletter. We use Vertical Response for our Newsletters. Vertical Response Privacy Policy.
  • When signing up or logging in using a social profile. We collect your public profile data only from your consent that you grant before initiating Social Login, from the social network used to login at our website. This data includes your first name, last name, email address, link to your social media profile, unique identifier, link to social profile avatar. This data is used to create your user profile at our website. You can revoke this consent at any time by sending us an email.

The information you give us may include your name, address, e-mail address & phone number. Statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies, which help us to monitor and improve our e-newsletter.

Information we collect from you

This includes technical information, such as IP address, browser type and version, time zone setting, operating system and platform, URL clickstream to, through and from our site (including date & time), pages you viewed or searched for and page interaction information. This data is collected by Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel. KMC Liverpool has no access to any identifiable information from this data.

If you utilise our “Classes by Location” feature (whereby you enter a postcode and we show you your nearest class” you are agreeing to this data, provided via map API calls, to be processed by the API provider, for the purposes of geocoding (converting addresses to coordinates), reverse geocoding and generating directions.

Some visual components of WP Google Maps use 3rd party libraries which are loaded over the network. At present the libraries are Google Maps, Open Street Map, jQuery DataTables and FontAwesome. When loading resources over a network, the 3rd party server will receive your IP address and User Agent string amongst other details. Please refer to the Privacy Policy of the respective libraries for details on how they use data and the process to exercise your rights under the GDPR regulations.

WP Google Maps uses jQuery DataTables to display sortable, searchable tables. jQuery DataTables in certain circumstances uses a cookie to save and later recall the “state” of a given table – that is, the search term, sort column and order and current page. This data is help in local storage and retained until this is cleared manually. No libraries used by WP Google Maps transmit this information.

Images may be captured during events organised and hosted by KMC Liverpool using film photography, digital photography, video or other medium and may be used on the website, event publicity or brochures, other publicity material (such as internal and external newsletters), and may be provided to the media for publication in local or national newspapers or magazines and other resources.  KMC Liverpool acknowledges its responsibilities in capturing images by photography or other means under applicable law.

What do we do with this information?

We use the information you provide us with for the purpose it was provided. For example, information collected and processed is used to manage and administer your booking, and to facilitate event planning. We may contact you via email or phone regarding your booking. If you have signed up to our mailing list, we may also send you e-newsletters with information about future events.

If you have submitted your name & email address via a contact form on our website, we only use this for the purposes of answering your query.

We use technologies, such as cookies, to customise content and advertising, to provide social media features and to analyse traffic to the site. We also share information about your use of our site with our trusted social media, advertising and analytics partners. This means that based on your activity on our Site, you may see adverts for our events on social media. See Facebook Privacy Policy.

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

Payments

We accept payments through Braintree (a Paypal company). When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Braintree, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

If you make a purchase on our website, your card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processor Braintree, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. See Braintree’s Privacy Policy.

How do we secure your information?

When you give us personal information, we take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely. Any information is encrypted and protected with encryption on SSL. When you are on a secure page, a lock icon will appear at the top of web browsers.

We use third party security plugins WP Cerber (WP Cerber Privacy Policy) and Wordfence (Wordfence Privacy Policy) to protect against hacks and malware. This software will notify us in case of any data breach. You will be notified within 48 hours if there has been a potential or actual breach of your personal information. The Managers & Volunteers who have access to this information are aware of Data Protection regulations.

While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. Where we have given (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our websites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

How long we keep your information?

All data is kept for as long as is necessary to complete our contractual obligations. Your information will be retained for a period of 6 years plus the current year, for statutory record keeping purposes.  After this time, unless we have a legal obligation to retain it for longer, your personal information will be deleted or, where data is required for statistical purposes, anonymised.

Your information used for marketing purposes will be kept until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.

Cookies

Like many other websites, our Site website uses cookies. ‘Cookies’ are small pieces of information sent by an organisation to your computer and stored on your hard drive to allow that website to recognise you when you visit. They collect statistical data about your browsing actions and patterns and do not identify you as an individual.

Who on our team has access

Centre Managers and trusted volunteers have access to the information you provide us. For example, Centre Managers can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

Our weekly classes start again from September 2nd. We do have a ‘Learn to Meditate in Half a Day‘ course on August 18th.
