Long Life, Merit and Wisdom
February 15 - February 16| Free
Meditation retreat on The Yoga of Buddha Amitayus
Our human life is our most precious possession because it gives us the opportunity to improve ourselves and attain the supreme happiness of enlightenment. We therefore need a long and healthy life! To practise the spiritual path successfully we also need wisdom, as well as the merit or good fortune that gives our mind the strength to support the growth of inner realisations. Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit, and wisdom. By relying on Buddha Amitayus, we can increase our lifespan, good fortune and wisdom, and eventually attain the deathless state of enlightenment. This retreat gives us a special opportunity to draw closer to Buddha Amitayus and receive his blessings. Each retreat session consists of chanted prayers in English and silent mantra recitation to increase our own lifespan, the lifespans of others and especially the lifespan of our Spiritual Guide and Founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. There is no need to book: sessions are free and you are welcome to drop in for any or all of the retreat. Everyone is welcome, but some previous experience of Kadampa Buddhism may be helpful.
Everyone is welcome.
Date/Time: Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th February
Session 1 10.00am-11.15am Session 2 12.15pm – 1.30pm Session 3 2.45pm-4.00pm
Venue: Kadampa Meditation Centre Liverpool, 25 Aigburth Drive, L17 4JH
The retreat will be led by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Jigme.
Ordained as a monk in 1997 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Gen Jigme has studied, practised and taught Kadampa Buddhism under Geshe Kelsang’s guidance in major Kadampa Centres throughout the UK for many years. He shows a humble, kind example as a practitioner and his clear explanations of Buddha’s teachings give us the confidence to practise them in our daily life.
What People Say About Our Events
Kadampa meditation is an oasis of calm in a busy world. I have learned so much, how to meditate. Thoughts are just thoughts, not facts and what I can do to improve my connection to the world we live in.
Made such a huge difference to my happiness and wellbeing
