Becoming a Buddhist

What does it mean to be a Buddhist? What do Buddhists believe? How does a person become a Buddhist?

Buddha taught that there is nothing in this contaminated world that can give us true, lasting protection from suffering – it’s only by turning to the Three Jewels of Buddhist Refuge and finding the everlasting inner peace of enlightenment that we can truly free ourselves and others from all suffering permanently.

On this day course, Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Jigme will explain the basic views and intentions of a Buddhist, and how Buddha’s advice can be followed by anyone in daily life, to solve our daily problems and find real meaning and happiness in our lives. In the afternoon, Gen Jigme will grant Buddhist Refuge Vows in a special ceremony to anyone who would like formally to become a Buddhist.

Following the day course there will be a Refuge Vows Day Retreat on the Sunday. (more information soon)
